New frames, new windows, new trim: a full refresh for a ’90s home.
From rotted frames to fresh interior trim: see how WarmDreams replaced three windows and a patio door in a 1990s Sugar Grove home with white PVC.
This single-family home in Sugar Grove, IL, built in the 1990s with a siding exterior, needed three sliding windows and its patio door replaced. The bigger issue was around the units, not in them: the wood frames at all four openings had rotted.
WarmDreams did not set new products into deteriorated framing. We replaced the rotted wood with new frames so each opening had a solid base. Then we installed white PVC replacement windows in the three window openings and fitted the homeowner-supplied white PVC patio door into its rebuilt opening. On the inside, we replaced the interior window casing instead of reattaching old trim around new windows.
The outcome is a window and patio door replacement that fixes the underlying damage, not just the visible units. Switching from wood to PVC means these openings no longer depend on the material that failed, and the matching white finish gives a consistent look across all four openings.
The Challenge
The wood frames around the three sliding windows and patio door had rotted. Setting new units into that compromised framing would have left them without a sound base and shortened the life of the entire installation.
The Solution
WarmDreams removed the rotted wood and built new frames at every opening. We installed white PVC windows and the homeowner’s PVC patio door on that solid base, then finished each opening with new interior casing.
