An aging bay window gives way to a clean, flush triple slider
WarmDreams replaced four windows on a 1968 brick home in Tinley Park with white PVC sliders, including a bay window converted to a triple slider
For this 1968 brick single-family home in Tinley Park, WarmDreams replaced four windows with white PVC sliding windows. Sliders open horizontally on a track, and using the same style and color at every replaced opening gives the facade a unified look against the brick.
The most involved part of the job was the old bay window. The homeowner decided to replace it with a triple slider rather than another bay, which meant removing the projecting unit entirely and setting a flat three-panel window in its place. A triple slider suits an opening of that width: its three panels span the space without extending past the wall. Once the bay came out, the exterior around the opening was closed up and trimmed so the change looks intentional. The work continued indoors as well, where new window casings were installed around the windows to complete the update on both sides of the wall.
The Challenge
The old bay window projected out from the brick facade, and the homeowner wanted a flat window in its place. Removing a bay, though, leaves exterior gaps a simple window swap can't cover.
The Solution
We replaced the bay with a white triple slider, covered the soffit opening with new soffit, and trimmed the adjacent corner post, leaving a clean, flush window in line with the rest.
