LoĒ-270 Coated Glass

LoĒ coated glass delivers year-round comfort in any weather. In summer, it rejects the sun’s heat and damaging UV rays. In winter, it reflects heat back into the room.

LoĒ-366 Coated Glass

LoĒ-366 is a clear coating that blocks even more solar gain, reflects heat, and lets the light stream in. It even outperforms the tinted glass often used in warm climates.

Annealed glass

Annealed glass, commonly known as the standard glass, undergoes a thermal treatment process followed by slow cooling to eliminate internal stresses. It is commonly utilized in applications where safety considerations are not a primary concern.

Fully tempered glass

Fully tempered glass is significantly stronger than annealed glass, with a strength four times greater. In the event of breakage, it shatters into small, safe pieces, minimizing the risk of injury.

Heat Treated Glass

Heat-strengthened glass undergoes a slower cooling process compared to tempered glass, resulting in a lower compression strength. However, it still provides approximately twice the strength of annealed glass.

Laminated Glass

Laminated glass can withstand strong impacts. It is a superior solution to safety glazing.

Laminated glass does more: it is the type of safety glazing that also remains intact within the window frame.

Maintenance

Neat Glass

Unlike regular exterior window surfaces, Neat glass requires minimal maintenance. With Neat technology, the glass stays cleaner for longer periods. And when the time comes to clean, you'll find it quick and effortless.

Architectural Window Styles for Chicagoland Homes: Pick the One That Fits Your Vibe

Hey, picking the right architectural window style? It's not just about how it looks—it's gotta nail function, keep your energy bills in check, and make your curb appeal pop. From those classic double-hungs that never go out of style to showstoppers like bay and bow windows, every option has its sweet spot. We've spent over 20 years helping folks across Chicagoland—from windy Lakeview spots to sunny Naperville backyards—find windows that match their home's personality and daily life. Let's dive in and find what clicks for you.

Timeless Picks for Classic Homes & Real-Life Ease

These window styles? They've been around forever for a reason—blending old-school charm with no-fuss performance that holds up in Chicagoland's brutal winters and steamy summers.

Double-Hung Windows

  • Why You'll Love 'Em: Super classic vibe that slides right into any home design, whether it's a cozy bungalow or a grand colonial. Those tilt-in sashes? Game-changer for cleaning without a ladder.
  • Heads Up: Ventilation's decent, but only half opens at once—not as breezy as some others.
  • Spot-On For: Traditional setups where you want reliable, everyday windows without the drama.

Casement Windows

  • Why You'll Love 'Em: Side-hinged and swinging wide open like a door, they crank up the airflow and give you crystal-clear views. Tight seals mean they're energy efficiency champs too.
  • Heads Up: That outward swing? Not ideal if you've got a tight patio or walkway situation.
  • Spot-On For: Fresh-air lovers who dig modern lines and hate drafts sneaking in.

Awning Windows

  • Why You'll Love 'Em: Top-hinged magic lets you vent even in a downpour—perfect for those rainy Chicagoland days. Great for spots craving air without the wet mess.
  • Heads Up: Openings are smaller, so they're not your go-to for epic views.
  • Spot-On For: Basements, bathrooms, or anywhere you need protected ventilation.

Go Big: Styles for Killer Views & Design Drama

Craving walls of light and a wow-factor that turns heads? These are the architectural window styles that deliver panoramic punches and make your home feel alive.

Picture Windows

  • Why You'll Love 'Em: Fixed glass slabs that frame your outdoors like a painting, letting sunlight flood every corner and spotlight your garden or skyline.
  • Heads Up: No opening, zero airflow—so team 'em up with something vented nearby.
  • Spot-On For: Living rooms or chill zones where views and natural light steal the show.

Bay Windows

  • Why You'll Love 'Em: One big center pane with angled sides pushing out, creating that dreamy nook for coffee or curling up with a book. Bonus: Extra light and fake square footage inside.
  • Heads Up: Pricey upfront, and they might need some structural TLC to install right.
  • Spot-On For: Homes wanting a cozy, functional focal point that screams style.

Bow Windows

  • Why You'll Love 'Em: Four-plus panels curving out smooth for that sweeping, 180-degree view—elegant AF and light-maxing.
  • Heads Up: Fully custom, so expect a heftier bill and pro install.
  • Spot-On For: Spacious rooms or facades ready for a luxurious, panoramic upgrade.

Niche Gems for Those Tricky Spots

Got a weird corner or a specific itch to scratch? These specialty window styles handle the unique stuff, from sneaky light boosts to cute decorative touches.

Hopper Windows

Why You'll Love 'Em: Bottom-hinged inward swing for controlled air without rain sneaking in—basement heroes. Heads Up: That inward open eats a bit of indoor space, so measure twice. Spot-On For: Utility areas needing secure, weather-smart ventilation.

Garden Windows

  • Why You'll Love 'Em: Mini-greenhouse vibes projecting out with built-in shelves for herbs or knick-knacks—total kitchen charm bomb.
  • Heads Up: Insulation's key, or they might leak energy like a sieve.
  • Spot-On For: Sunny spots where function meets a little whimsy.

Transom Windows

  • Why You'll Love 'Em: Tiny fixed panes perched above doors or big windows, sneaking in extra light and that subtle architectural flair.
  • Heads Up: Purely decorative—no air flow here.
  • Spot-On For: Entries or hallways craving a style lift without the fuss.

Your Guide to Landing the Best Window Style

Zeroing in on the right architectural window for your Chicagoland pad? Here's the quick cheat sheet:

  • Airflow First? Casements or awnings win for that open-breeze feel.
  • Light & Views Obsessed? Picture, bay, or bow—max glass, min hassle.
  • Style Sync? Double-hungs for trad vibes; specialties like transoms for modern or historic twists.
  • Wallet & Walls? Projection styles (bay/bow) hit harder on cost and need expert setup for stability.
